Re-elect Paul Morris for San Pablo City Council

Before the change in postal regulations, this was the typical format for my "absentee ballot" direct mail pieces.

The format of this piece was printed on an odd sized card stock that was 8 1/2 inches wide and 10 inches from top to bottom. It was folded off-center and had a 1-inch "lip" at the bottom. I have discovered that this is a difficult concept for people to understand, so I won't try any further to describe it; but it begged to be opened.

I emailed my first draft of this piece to Paul. He called back the next day and he said that when he showed the piece to his friends they all said, "Why Paul Morris."

"Huh.", I said.

"Why Paul Morris!", he repeated.

"Well... okay... why?", I asked.

In a frusted voice he said, "Look at the picture!"

I looked at the photo of Paul standing in front of the city hall sign and it was clear why he was so frustrated. Scroll down to the bottom of this web page and you'll see why it had to be changed. Anyway, it took a couple of minutes to :"photo shop" the "Y" out.
